12/10/2020 | News

AESIN is delighted to announce the new appointments of Tim Edwards of HORIBA MIRA as Chair and Gunny Dhadyalla of WMG as Co-Chair of the AESIN ADAS & HAV Workstream.

Both Tim and Gunny have actively supported AESIN Workstreams previously and will now bring huge Industry and Academic Research experience to bear on the future development of the Workstream.

The AESIN ADAS & HAV Workstream focusses on Technologies for Increased Autonomy in Functionally Safe Environments. Elements of the group include Sensing, HMI/UX, V&V, Standards and Functional Safety. Moving forward, AESIN will look to extend these to cover the key enabling embedded technologies for more Connected and Highly Automated Vehicles.

Paul Jarvie, Director of the AESIN Network commented “we welcome Tim and Gunny into these exciting roles and also thank Dr. Alan Walker of Syselek, who has stepped down after four years as Chair of the group. Alan provided strong leadership and direction – developing core sub-groups and delivering an annual conference dedicated to the themes. We are looking forward to growing success of the Worksteam which is already embedded into the core delivery elements of Automotive Council UK ICAM Group, chaired by David Skipp of FORD.

Dr. Stephen Lambert, Head of Electrification – McLaren Applied & AESIN Chairman added “I’m delighted to welcome Tim Edwards as Chair and Gunny Dhadyalla as Co-Chair to this core workstream activity which is now well established and recognised by the Automotive Council UK and C-CAV / ZENZIC organisations as adding real value.

At McLaren Applied we are seeing the rapid growth and strong demand for more Connected, Automated and Low Emission vehicle technologies which must be Safe and Cyber Resilient to meet user needs and adoption. The ADAS & HAV Workstream at AESIN is focussed on many of the key challenges that we are facing in this area and I am convinced that building on the excellent work established by Alan Walker, our previous Chair, both Tim and Gunny will bring strong Industrial and Academic Research capability to drive this work to the next level. We look forward to working with them to achieve our vision for AESIN”.
